Improving What You Already Have

Sometimes it is difficult to create new content. Everyone hits a wall now and then, author. You may not have any energy, or your creativity may be 100% committed to your new book. We get it. If you feel you are at this place, take some time to look at and improve on what you already have.

Feedback and criticism may be daunting to think about, but it truly can be your best friend. Take a look at responses you have received, and make sure you engage. Don’t ignore it. Thank them for their time and opinion. What is the most common critique? Listen to your audience, author. They are your path to success. Do not discount their opinions, even if you don’t like what they have to say.

How is your email marketing going?  Is your subscribe link on your website easy to find? That’s a quick remedy that will help you in the long run. Think about how you can refine your marketing strategy to better suit your goals.

Analyze what you have on each platform and look at what is working well and what needs improvement. Make a list for both. Ideally your “Works Well” category will be bigger. This may take a while initially, but it is a project you can slowly tackle one bullet point at a time.

Expand your network; reach out to authors and accounts you like, bookstores, libraries, etc. There are so many ways to break out and expand your skills.

Everything is a work in progress, and progress takes time. Your path to success, author, depends entirely on your commitment to yourself and your brand. Take things one step at a time, one platform at a time, one task at a time. Cultivate your effort and soon you will see the difference.
