Resolution Revolution

Happy New Year, author! I am sure you have made some resolutions for this upcoming year. In case you haven’t, I’ve thought of a couple that can help you build and strengthen your brand.

Develop a consistent posting schedule and don’t be afraid to use scheduling apps. Plan and commit to a regular schedule for sharing content, whether that’s blog posts, newsletters, or social media updates. Posting once a month won’t get you the type of engagement you need to build your following. Consistency builds trust and keeps your audience engaged.

Collaborate with other authors or platforms. Reach out to like-genre authors and platforms such as podcasts or review blogs or accounts and work on a collaboration. You could co-host events, giveaways, join group projects, get interviewed, or cross-promote with other authors to expand your reach and bring fresh content to your audience.

Engage with your followers personally. It is really easy to just like a comment, but engaging on a personal level with your fans can propel you forward. Engage actively by responding to comments, emails, or messages, and consider hosting live Q&A sessions, virtual readings, or writing sprints. Your followers want to get to know you!

Optimize your website (and stay on top of it!). This is a hard one to do, but necessary. Make time to regularly check your website for broken links and keep things updated. Time to change out that headshot from 10 years ago. Invest time in learning SEO basics to improve your blog and website. Figuring out keywords that lead to you can result in new readers and subscribers.

There’s always a lot going on at the start of the year, author. But if you make time to fulfill your resolutions, your brand will be better and stronger for it. Make this a priority and you will see results.
