SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-based. How can you focus on these aspects for goals for yourself, author?
Specific means clearly defining your goal, stating what will be done by who. Your specific goal could be creating a week’s worth of themed content for social media. Think about what holidays are coming up that could work with your book?
Measurable focuses on how the goal will be tracked. Utilizing insights on various platforms is a great way to do this.
Achievable is making sure the goal is realistic and that you have the skills to follow through. You can work through this step by making sure you have a plan you can execute.
Relevant is considering the big picture and why you’re setting this goal. Relevant also focuses on the content specifically for its current time. Evergreen content is content that is always relevant and relatable over time.
Time-based means setting a time frame for your goal, such as a deadline or a milestone, or both!
Now how can you combine these together?
Specific: Increase engagement on Instagram.
Measurable: Post 3 times a week and grow followers by 1,000.
Achievable: Dedicate 30 minutes daily to creating content and engaging with followers.
Relevant: Social media visibility can help promote my books.
Time-based: Reach the follower goal within 6 months.
Easy peasy, right, author?
By setting SMART goals, you will be able to maintain focus, measure progress, and achieve both short and long term success. It takes some practice, but this is a great way to break down large goals into smaller, bite-sized pieces.
